Top Tip Thursday: Add description to images in Teams chat

The update allows you to add alternative text to images, allowing those who are visually impaired to understand the full content of your message.

To add alt text to your images:

  1. Copy and paste the image into the textbox
  2. Right-click the image, then click Add Alt Text
  3. In the pop-up box, describe the image. Bear in mind that alt text is for those who are either blind or have low vision so avoid vague description and explain the image in detail. There is a 240-character limit allowing you to write roughly 1-4 sentences.
  4. Press Save

When the person clicks on the image, the alt text will appear at the bottom of the page.
