Tip Top Thursday: Organise your inbox efficiently by using rules in Outlook

You can set up rules in Microsoft Outlook to automatically move an email from a specific person to a chosen folder. You can even choose different alert sounds to differentiate the emails.

To set up rules in Outlook to tidy up your inbox, you need to:

  1. In the top toolbar, under Home, click Rules
  2. Select “Always Move Messages From: (sender name)”
  3. In the Rules and Alerts pop-up box, choose which folder you want the emails to be sent to
  4. Click OK

Outlook will then run the rule and will move all existing emails from the sender to the chosen folder, allowing you to have a tidier inbox.
